Indonesian smallholder farmers in West Java

Indonesian smallholder farmers in West Java have taken an important step towards accessing government support programmes and high value markets. 🌱✨

🤝Together with the Agriculture Agency of Bandung District, PT Indocafco/ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd., and Koltiva, GIZ has piloted cultivation registration certificate (STDB) registration for coffee farmers in forest areas in Bandung District, West Java. 📃

🌲Many coffee, cocoa, and natural rubber farmers operate in State Forest Areas through Social Forestry Schemes or Partnership Agreements with Perhutani, a state-owned forestry company. STDB registration in these areas has only been legally possible since the end of 2024 and needs to accelerate roll out to ensure farmers can access high-value markets. 📈

💻 The Ministry of Agriculture’s electronic STDB system provides local governments with information about farmers’ plots, socio-economic conditions and productivity, and allows for better targeted extension services to smallholders across Indonesia.

📕To encourage replication and scaling, we have developed a practical guide for STDB registation in forest areas which can be found in the following link: https://lnkd.in/gug_v5nb
