🌿 A united call from the tropics: Brazil and Indonesia champion forest cooperation

Earlier this month, following a high-level meeting between President Lula (Brazil) and President Prabowo Subianto (Indonesia), the two leaders issued a joint statement calling for stronger collaboration among tropical forest countries. They emphasized the critical role of standing forests in safeguarding global climate stability, conserving biodiversity, and protecting soils and water basins.

Notably, they welcomed the constructive partnership between Brazil and Indonesia in developing the Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) — a bold and innovative mechanism to finance the protection of the world’s tropical forests.

“The two leaders also welcomed the constructive collaboration between Brazil and Indonesia in shaping the Tropical Forests Forever Facility and encouraged potential donors to announce ambitious contributions, in order to ensure the Facility’s capitalization and timely operationalization.”

The TFFF represents a new chapter in global forest finance — a model designed by tropical forest countries, for tropical forest countries. Stay tuned as we move closer to launch!
