Verra‘s Improved Forest Management Methodology, VM0045, developed in partnership between AFF, The Nature Conservancy and TerraCarbon LLC and used in the Family Forest Carbon Program, has been recognized with the The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)‘s Core Carbon Principle label!
This announcement marks VM0045 as the first IFM methodology specifically designed for smallholder carbon projects to meet this standard of integrity. VM0045 introduced a groundbreaking approach to forest carbon accounting- the matched dynamic baseline, providing robust additionality claims to measure a project’s true climate impact.
With this approval, IC-VCM recognizes select IFM methodologies as a rigorous and trusted resource for producing high-quality carbon credits and provides the market with clarity on what constitutes the highest quality standards.
