Program Snapshot
A brief overview of the community empowerment (social investment) activities conducted around the location of the Shell Lubricants Plant in Marunda – Bekasi, specifically targeting the DESA BERSEMI (Clean, Healthy, and Independent Village) Groups in Tarumajaya District, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
This initiative serves as a direct implementation of the circular economy principle, where waste generated by group members/residents is managed as much as possible by applying the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The core goal is to manage waste at its source, thereby significantly reducing the volume of waste sent to the Final Disposal Site (TPS/Landfill).
Program Activities
The program is implemented through the following key activities:
- Urban Farming: Promoting sustainable food security and greening within the community.
- Composting (Solid and Liquid): Training and implementation of organic waste processing into high-value fertilizers.
- Creative Economy/Handicrafts: Developing skills for processing waste materials into marketable creative products.
- Plastic Waste Management: Focused initiatives for sorting and recycling plastic waste streams.
- Circular Economy Education: Providing training and awareness through the SBKS (Waste Management Learning Center).
- Product Marketing: Utilizing social media channels to expand the market reach for products generated by the community groups.
- Productive House (P-Rp) and Gebutari (Tarumajaya Green Movement) Contest: Organizing competitions to foster creativity and active participation in waste management and local production.
Collaboration
The program is organized through the initiation of PT. Shell Indonesia and Shell Lubricants in partnership with the program consulting firm PT. EOS Consultants.
Key Information for 2025 Activities
(The following is a placeholder for information to be inserted about the specific activities planned for 2025, as the source text concluded with this line.)

Optimizing Productive Homes for Local Economy
The goal is to organize and optimize residential areas to become productive and serve as a source of income.
The participants of the Productive House (P-Rp) Initiative and the Gebutari (Tarumajaya Green Movement) under the Desa Bersemi Program receive coaching on financial literacy and business strategy.
This education is a long-term investment for local economic independence in developing family-based enterprises.

Gang Manggar Area Restoration and Gebutari Commitment
Gang Manggar Restoration: The former waste dumping site in Gang Manggar is being transformed into a productive Triangle Garden. This involves clearing dense bushes—which previously harbored pythons and monitor lizards—to create an urban farming productive garden for local residents, led by Mr. Hary Budiyanto (Didik).
Gebutari Socialization Success: The Gebutari Movement successfully gathered commitment from 13 community units (RTs) across Desa Pantai Makmur and Desa Segara Makmur in Tarumajaya District to engage in cleanliness initiatives. The key to social program success is the active community participation in achieving a Clean, Healthy, and Independent environment, starting from their respective homes.
Circular Economy: Waste to valued materials
“From kitchen waste to value through the fermentation process into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF), Local Microorganisms (MOL), and Compost. The participating residents and neighborhood units (RT) of the Gebutari program, along with the Desa Bersemi Group, learned to process leftover fruit/vegetables into LOF, MOL, and Compost. This is a real-life practice of the #CircularEconomy that is cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.
This initial process serves as training for the neighborhood units (RT) and Cadres to become Trainers themselves, who will then continue the knowledge transfer to residents in their respective local neighborhood units.”
